‘Love's just a four letter word’

Seems like only yesterday, I left my mind behind

Found in a gypsy café` with a friend of a friend of mine

He sat his baby ‘hurly’ on her knee

Yet spoken like most freed from slavery

With eyes that showed no trace of misery

Depraved and detachment purged was she

Augured that love's just a four letter word

Outside of that I’m toward my window

Glancing out at the grace of day

Me, I kept my mouth shut

Knew I had no words to say

My experience was limited and underfed

You were talking while I hid to the wonder

T’was the father of your kid

You probable didn’t think I did

But I heard you say, "that love's just a four letter word"

I said “goodbye” and notice there’d put poor dent in my own game

Listening in to all the lifetimes and mentioning of thy name

Searching for my "double locking four"

Complete evaporation to the door

Though I tried and failed to find the antidote

I must have thought that there was nothing more

“A bird”

And that 'love's just a four letter word'

Though I never knew just what you meant

When you were speaking to your man

I could only think in terms of me and know that I understand

After waking enough times to think I’d be

A holy kiss that’s supposed to last eternity

Blow it all up in smoke it’s just me

Falls on strangers, travels free. . .

Yes I’m home now trapped lonely step I need

And I do not really need to be assured

That love's just a four letter word

Came to me that day beside you many years it may return

You’d probably not believe me if I'd told you all I’ve learned

They’re many very-very weird indeed

Beware of words like forever and free

Though ships run through my mind I cannot sheath

It's like looking in a teacher’s face and plead; “I can’t say nothing to you but repeat what I've heard that love is just a four letter word". . .

Note: After the scripted version of this Joan Baez ('Bob Dylan') song “Love’s just a four letter Word” I've adjusted the tempo flow somewhat by adding a little "clairvoyance" to the story. Hopefully you’ll enjoy!
